We were surprised when we received a Jetter asking us to study the syllabus of one faculty
of a very well known university wanting to improve the syllabus further. With that letter a copy of
syllabus of about 180 pages was enclosed.
It was good that the letter stated the topics for its consideration very clearly. It was not sur
prising that a national institution can work according to the good system which was written like a
textbook. In the syllabus for consideration there were main objectives of the University, specific
objectives, policies, principles, reasons, infra-structure of the institution, plan of operation, and the
auditing system. However, would you believe that topics under the same heading are not correlated
together. The most important thing was that the plan of operation did not go along with objectives!
The objectives did not go along with the main objectives or principles and reasons. Therefore, how
long do we need to develop our country to the level of our developed neighbors.
To speak the truth in this matter is quite easy. We should do so because our country still has
many important problems waiting to be solved. The survival of society is much better than the
survival of individual or one profession.
