Incidence, Risk Factors, and Outcomes of Acute Kidney Injury in Major Burn Patients: A 7-Year Experience in Ramathibodi Hospital
The incidence of AKI in the first 7 days of BICU admission was 16%. Coagulopathy, defined as INR ≥1.5, was identified as an independent risk factor associated with early AKI in patients with major burns. Utilizing a simple value of INR could be a practical way to identify patients with major burns that may require further workup. Furthermore, the fluid balance cut point could be used as a warning signal of high risk for mortality during a weekly review of patients’ clinical rounds.
